Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque Dress Code .. How to Follow ?!

One of the most common questions we used to receive and specially from women, what to wear while in your city ?! Or it said ” I am woman and would like to wear short jeans, Can I ?! “
So today we thought about to write what is really a woman traveler can wear in Abu Dhabi ?! and if there is any issue to care about.
Well, firstly let us say that in Abu Dhabi (and Dubai as well) you are totally free to wear whatever you want to do, no one will come stopping you and ask: excuse me why do you dress this way ?! That may happen in some places in middle east, Asia and other parts of world, But it Abu Dhabi, feel safe that is not going to happen anyway.
But that does not prevent that there some rules you have to keep in mind while a visit to certain places. As an example within your city tour in Abu Dhabi, you for sure will visit the decent attraction of Sheikh Zayed grand mosque that will requires you to dress in a proper way in order to be allowed to enter the mosque, This proper way needs to follow the below advisory. Firstly for women:
- Women need to cover the shoulders, arms and chest area. This is a must to be allowed to go inside the mosque.
- Long dress to cover what under knees is also required.
- Light veil that covers head and hair is needful.
While for men; they only need to be dress in a proper dress that is covering body. no short trousers are allowed. no cutting jeans are allowed too.
What if I missed that ?!
You do not have to worry in case you mistakenly missed to follow any of the dressing rules as you will be provided with a proper dress to use for the mosque visit from special cabins at the mosque. that dress you will need to get it back once your visit ends. But that is not guaranteed all the time due to the high traffic that mosque almost gets, So it is much better to be dressed yourself as advised.
The same rules are also followed within a visit to the insides of Jumeirah mosque of Dubai!
These rules are supposed to be followed when vising any mosque in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
In other tours just like safari tours, you will not need to follow such a dress code for sure. you may like to wear light, wide and comfortable clothing within day times, with light jacket for the time after sun goes. also sunscreen, sunglasses and more are so recommended. See the blog below for more details.
Having lunch, dinner or even high tea in one of the luxury hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi also requires a certain dress code, not classic wear, not suits, but to show in semi-casual style or the national dress of UAE. the semi casual look includes shirt, polo t.shirt with typical jeans or trousers.
Except what is mentioned, you are totally free to wear all what you like to do with no restrictions at all.
Hopefully it helps and looking for your communicate
