After a long time of quarantine and travel ban due to the global pandemic Covid-19; Abu Dhabi begins to welcome its travelers again -somehow- usually. However, there is still confusion understanding what is exactly required to enter the Emirate?! And what does it need to have a safe trip in Abu Dhabi without any concerns of being not allowed to pass Abu Dhabi international airport or enter specific places or tourist attractions?
In the coming few lines; we will try to help you to understand the Abu Dhabi travel restrictions of today in a question-and-answer form.
Q) Is the PCR test at the Abu Dhabi international airport still required to enter Abu Dhabi?!
A) The short answer is No. No, it is not required as you can pass the airport with no need to do a PCR test at the airport as long you have your vaccination certificate with QR.
Q) What are the rules to enter public places/tourist attractions in Abu Dhabi?!
A) Besides wearing the usual face mask; Abu Dhabi visitors are required to have a negative PCR test proof within 14 days from visit time in case they are fully vaccinated.
While the not vaccinated travelers need to have a PCR test proven within only 48 hours from arrival. Surely the PCR test result must be negative.
Q) What is “Fully Vaccinated” refers to?!
A) As per World Health Organization: a fully vaccinated person is one who finished his vaccine, whether that’s one dose or two, and two weeks have passed. The vaccine needs to be one of the recognized vaccines. See the recognized vaccines list.
You do need two weeks for your immune system to mount its full response. You are then considered fully immunized
Q) What is Al Hosn App?!
A) Al Hosn App is a mobile application tool that determines the status of its user and his validity to enter public places in Abu Dhabi. The app is widely used between locals, inhabitants, and repeat visitors. It is not a must for a traveler to have the app.
Q) does transit in Abu Dhabi needs a PCR?!
A) If you have a transit in Abu Dhabi airport; you do not need a COVID-19 test certificate or a vaccination for transiting the UAE.
Q) Is there any restrictions on traveling from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in terms of Covid?!
A) Effective Feb 2022; There are no restrictions on traveling from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi travelers are no longer required to show a Green status on the Al Hosn app to enter Abu Dhabi.
